Training Handouts
Combined 2020 Handout Document B&W
NVSUA offers two opportunities to be trained.
The winter training takes place on select weekday evenings and Saturday mornings in February.
The fall training is traditionally on weekday evenings from 6:00 – 9:30. The five evenings are chosen from the last 2 weeks in August and the first week in September.
The training sessions are at locations inside the beltway in Virginia.
There is a cost for umpires new to the association, but current members are always welcome to attend.
Our trainers apply a unique approach of “hands on” training that will prepare you to make proper calls, enforce the rules and look good doing it. You will also be completing take home quizzes (emailed to you) that you can finish at your own pace and with the use of the rule book. The training will conclude with the new umpires rotating in and out of a scrimmage. When it is time for your first game, you will have a “mentor” in the stands for support.
You can be sure that you will be properly trained and ready for the season.
